Efficacy of Multiple Low-dose Photodynamic Therapy in Nude Mice Implanted with Cervical Cancer

چکیده
In recent years, although the widespread screening of cervical cancer, especially the systemic use of the Papanicolaou (Pap) smear (Cronje, 2005), cervical cancer remains the second most common cause of death from cancer in women worldwide (Sreejata et al., 2012), China accounts for 29% of the 51,000,000 new cases of cervical cancer each year (Kim et al., 2009). But due to cervical cancer screening, cervical cancer can be detected early and is younger trend, expecially early cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), some young patients with no children had a strong desire for fertility. So in addition to traditional treatments including operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, photodynamic therapy may become an alternative treatment. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an emerging tumor treatment approach in recent years. Since 20 years ago, Clinical study of Dougherty on photodynamic therapy of treating malignant tumor was successful for the first time (Thomas et al., 1978), which caused a lot of clinical

Synthesis and Application of New Gadolinium-Porphyrins as Potential MR Imaging Contrast Agents for Cancer Detection in Nude Mice
Two new potential magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents, Gd-hematoporphyrin (Gd-H) and Gd-tetra-carboranylmethoxyphenyl-porphyrin (Gd TCP), were synthesized and applied to nude mice with human melanoma (MM 138) xenografts. These agents showed a high relaxivity because of their greater potential to coordinate water molecules. The reduction of T1 relaxation times of 16 and 21% was observed i...
متن کاملEvaluation of Silicon Phthalocyanine 4 Photodynamic Therapy Against Human Cervical Cancer Cells In Vitro and in Mice.
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide [1]. Photodynamic therapy has been used for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia with good responses, but few studies have used newer phototherapeutics. We evaluated the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy using Pc 4 in vitro and in vivo against human cervical cancer cells. METHODS CaSki and ME-180 cancer cells wer...

Background: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising therapeutic modality for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. In this study, the epidermoid carcinoma cell line A431 and the normal fibroblasts were used to investigate whether gold nanoparticles (GNPs) can induce an increase in cell death during PDT using 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) as a photosensitizer. Methods: Human fibroblast an...
متن کامل99mTc-Glucarate for assessment of paclitaxel therapy in human ovarian cancer in mice
Objectives: The monitoring of cancer treatment response to chemotherapy is considered an essential strategy for follow-up of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of 99mTc-glucarate as a radiotracer for in vivo quantification and visualization of necrotic area and therapeutic effect of paclitaxel in ovarian cancer xenografted nude mice. Materials and Methods: After implantatio...
متن کاملCombination therapy of tyrosine kinase receptor inhibitor TSU-68 (SU6668) and paclitaxel inhibits subcutaneous xenografts of endometrial cancer.
TSU-68 is a small-molecular-weight synthetic inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase receptors Flk-1/KDR, PDGFRβ and FGFR1, which are involved in angiogenesis. Using a mouse model in which endometrial cancer was subcutaneously implanted, we investigated the effects of TSU-68 alone or in combination with paclitaxel. We subcutaneously implanted a cell strain of endometrial cancer, HEC1A, into BALB/c nud...
